Roger Goubeaux; Led L.A. Office of National Labor Relations Board
A memorial service is scheduled Wednesday for Roger W. Goubeaux, Los Angeles area labor relations leader, who died May 7 at the age of 59.
The service will be at 7 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10750 Ohio Ave., Los Angeles.
Goubeaux died of a heart attack in his sleep at his Westwood home.
He had been director of the National Labor Relations Board’s Region 31, a seven-county district based in Los Angeles, for the past 12 years.
“Roger Goubeaux was an outstanding attorney and manager,” NLRB Chairman James M. Stephens said in a statement issued in Washington. “His dedicated service and intelligent leadership will be sorely missed by his fellow employees and by the labor relations community in the Los Angeles area.”
A native of Ohio and an Air Force veteran, Goubeaux earned bachelor’s and law degrees from Ohio State University before beginning his career with the NLRB office in Cleveland.
He came to Los Angeles in 1969 as assistant regional attorney, and 10 years later was named director of the regional office, one of two based in Los Angeles. Last year he earned the President’s Meritorious Rank Award for senior executives.
Goubeaux is survived by three sisters and two brothers. The family has asked that any memorial contributions be sent to the Midnight Mission, 396 S. Los Angeles St., Los Angeles 90013.
