Skier Rudolf Nierlich, winner of three World Championships, was killed in an automobile accident early Saturday near his home in St. Wolfgang, in the mountainous Salzkammergut region of Austria. He was 25.

Nierlich’s car skidded on a rain-drenched road and slammed into a restaurant at about 3 a.m., the Austria Press Agency reported. He died on the way to the hospital.
