Striker Replacement Ban Gains in House: A bill to ban companies from hiring permanent replacements for striking workers was approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The bill now goes to the full House. The AFL-CIO has made the bill a top priority this year to counter what it regards as a growing trend by companies to break strikes by hiring permanent replacements. The Bush Administration has threatened to veto the bill.
