OJAI : Preservation Group to Gather at Park

Share

The annual gathering of the Citizens to Preserve the Ojai is scheduled for today at Ojai’s Sarzotti Park from 1 to 4 p.m.

Stan Greene, president of the environmental group, said the annual meeting will be potluck--what he calls a “good old-fashioned Ojai-type gathering.”

The meeting will include the election of officers, a financial report, the president’s address, presentation of an achievement award, a financial report and a guest speaker.

The guest speaker is Robert Sears of the Santa Barbara Air Pollution Control District.

Sears, who holds degrees in atmospheric science, will discuss air pollution.

Greene said Sears’ talk is relevant considering the controversy over a proposal to open a landfill in Weldon Canyon between Ventura and Casitas Springs.

Citizens to Preserve the Ojai, which has about 700 members, is a vocal opponent of the proposed landfill, which it maintains will pollute the valley’s air.

Although the meeting is open to the public, Greene asks that people planning to attend contact Bill Bulwa at 649-1213.
