Childhood in America

Share

Thank you for your comprehensive series “Growing Up in America: the Reality of Childhood Today” (front page, May 12-16). The most telling statement was the one made in the last article of the series: “Children do not vote.” So many special-interest groups in the U.S. clamor for attention, yet children’s advocates are a mere whisper. Parents make up only a small percentage of the voting adult population, but they need not be the only ones who care about the future of our children. As a senior I know that we have a very strong voice in Congress. Why not add our voices to those of children’s advocates? Together we just might make a difference. Children are our legacy. Let’s leave something we can be proud of.
