SHIFTING SANDS: The winter storms were mild this year, but that didn’t stop steady ocean breezes from blowing sand off the beaches at the Huntington Beach and Bolsa Chica state parks. . . . Left to its own devices, the sand would bury the parking lots and bicycle path, but “sand walls” catch the gritty stuff. . . . For the past several months workers using front loaders have been pushing about 20,000 cubic yards of it back onto the beach. The annual job should be finished by mid-June.
