Three soldiers were killed and 18 people wounded in a mortar attack on an Ulster Defense Regiment post, police said. Belfast radio reported that several missiles had been fired at the post in Glenann, County Armagh, about 40 miles south of Belfast. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which was launched from the back of a truck parked near the base, the spokesman said. However, it was similar to attacks carried out by the Irish Republican Army.
