Supreme Court on Abortion

Share

As an OB/GYN nurse practitioner, and as a woman, I was infuriated by the Supreme Court decision regarding abortion information rights (“Justices OK Ban on Abortion Advice in U.S.-Aided Clinics,” front page, May 24). The justices should be ashamed of themselves for this ruling that so blatantly discriminates against those not fortunate enough to afford private health care.

Having worked in federally funded family-planning programs for many years, I know that the services provided are crucial for many low-income women. It saddens me to think that these programs will now be in jeopardy and many patients will be denied access to good quality care. The standard of care that a patient receives cannot depend on who is paying the bill.
