STYLE : MEN’S FASHION : SHORT CHANGES

Women aren’t the only ones showing a little leg this summer. Men, too, are wearing on city streets the same shorts that long have been at home on the beach.

Recently, we spotted a Westwood businessman, briefcase in hand and wearing coat, tie and shorts. Now well-known designers, savvy to the style’s growing popularity, are tackling short pants--Isaac Mizrahi with bandanna prints, Paul Smith with large-scale patterns.

But despite making inroads in town, shorts are still bigger on beaches than in boardrooms. Make them colorful, a little crazy when it comes to design and, probably more important than anything else, comfortable to wear.
