Aide Says Other Golf Courses Busier

Your May 23 Ventura County Life feature on the 324 holes of championship golf in the county was an excellent piece, written with the same energy and fun that the game of golf provides to nearly 25 million golfers throughout the United States.

But the story quotes Bob Meyer as saying he anticipated the 120,000 rounds played this year at Los Robles Golf Course would qualify it as one of the five busiest courses in the country.

American Golf Corp. operates more than 130 public, private and resort golf courses throughout the United States. In Southern California alone (Camarillo to Chula Vista), the number is 35. Of these, the following are regulation-size, 18-hole operations that exceed 120,000 rounds: La Mirada G.C., 138,000; Los Verdes G.C., 135,000; Recreation Park G.C., 134,000; Skylinks G.C., 129,000; El Dorado G.C., 126,000; Oceanside G.C., 125,000.

In addition to the above, we operate five executive and nine-hole golf courses in Southern California that also exceed the 120,000 rounds of Los Robles. You can see that while Los Robles is busy, there are quite a few golf courses within our system alone that exceed 120,000 annual rounds of golf.
