NEWPORT BEACH : Nautical Museum Will Hold Regatta
The Newport Harbor Nautical Museum will hold its first wooden sailboat races this week in the Heritage Regatta.
Competition will be divided into two areas, with boats 30 feet and under racing inside Newport Harbor and those over 30 feet competing between the harbor jetty and Huntington Beach.
The races kick off Saturday at 9 a.m., with trophy presentation following the events.
Pre-registration and a cocktail party will be held Friday at the Balboa Yacht Club, 1801 Bayside Drive, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A $10-per-person registration and entry fee is required for the event, which museum officials hope will generate interest in the 4-year-old organization, founded to present and preserve exhibits of general nautical interest.
All registration fees are tax-deductible. For more information, call (714) 673-3377.
