Countrywide Credit Industries Inc.: The nation’s largest independent mortgage banker, based in Pasadena, said first-quarter net income jumped 109% to $9 million. Countrywide said its performance was supported by record loan production, which reached $1.8 billion in the quarter, up 72% over last year.
