Suspect in Deaths to Arrive Friday

Cleophus Prince Jr. is scheduled to be returned to San Diego on Friday for arraignment next week in connection with the stabbing deaths of five women in Clairemont and University City.
A little more than four months after he was arrested in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala., the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals rejected Prince’s appeal of an extradition warrant ordering him to San Diego. His attorney decided not to appeal.
On March 3, the 23-year-old Prince was arrested in connection with the stabbing deaths of Tiffany Paige Schultz, Janene Marie Weinhold, Holly Suzanne Tarr, Pamela Clark and her daughter, Amber. The slayings took place between January and September of 1990.
The U.S. marshal’s office is bringing Prince to San Diego, but will not release details of when he will arrive for security reasons. He will be arraigned Tuesday.
