Westwood : 2 Picked for NIH Program

Two UCLA medical students have been chosen to participate in the Research Scholars Program sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Brian L. Lee of Santa Monica and Bert H. O’Neil of Los Angeles will spend a year at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., working with a distinguished biomedical researcher associated with NIH.

The 30 people chosen for the program nationwide live on the NIH campus. In addition to working in a biomedical lab, they participate in national scientific meetings and interact in other ways with leading figures in biomedical science.

Lee has an undergraduate degree from Stanford University, while O’Neil graduated from UC Irvine.
