Churches Debate Sex Agendas

Benne’s column bordered on sin. And this from an atheist, so help me God.
If the position of enlightened religious leaders is to patronize those who are not, I find the position incredible. The world has too long suffered from religions preaching superstition and fear.
To make these religious fanatics the protectors of society’s standards and the saviors of the “unwashed” is really asking far too much of the reader. The fundamentalist is, as far as I’ve been able to discover, a closed mind, and what gives him or her the greatest pleasure is to close other minds. They do it to their own children, and they would like nothing better than, in God’s name, to do it to all children. Their heart may be guiding them in their foolishness, but what sets the human being apart from the animal world is our mind. Failure to use it, it seems to me, is sinful.
