Vacant Homes Are Where His Heart Is

It was encouraging to read “Recycle a Neighborhood,” City Council President John Ferraro’s proposal to allow carefully screened low-income families to live in vacant houses awaiting demolition by developers. Certainly it is not a solution to the desperate housing crisis, but it is a responsible, rational and compassionate use of resources.
The humane response by David Sisam, resident of the community in North Hollywood where the first houses may be readied, is heartwarming: “I wouldn’t stop a thing like that from happening.”
