World IN BRIEF : TURKEY : Ruling Party Ousts Premier in Shuffle

Turkey’s ruling Motherland Party ousted its leader in an apparent attempt to reverse a plummeting popularity that could threaten the post of pro-American President Turgut Ozal. Delegates to a stormy party congress in Ankara threw out Prime Minister Yildirim Akbulut. It is expected that former Foreign Minister Mesut Yilmaz, 43, will be chosen as the new prime minister and will conduct a major Cabinet reshuffle.
