Americans have much to learn about their country’s legacy of freedom and compassion, First Lady Barbara Bush said at Northeastern University’s commencement at Boston. “Real tolerance is an idea that our country has strived for since its beginning,” she said. “ . . . We’ve made progress, but we still have a long, long way to go.” She received an honorary doctorate for public service.
