Sexism in the Workplace

In response to “Why I’m Leaving Stanford: I Wanted My Dignity Back,” by Frances K. Conley, Opinion, June 9:

Dr. Conley’s experiences at Stanford indicate just how pervasive and resilient male-dominant sex attitudes continue to be. It is wonderful that her decision to leave has attracted the wide attention that it has. Perhaps many more women will take heart and speak out in their own defense, as well. It’s just a shame that Dr. Conley felt compelled to make such a decision. May her next employer treat her with the respect she so richly deserves, both as a professional and as a woman.
