SAN CLEMENTE : City Hikes Charges, Including Golf Fees

Share

Fees for 20 city services and licenses were raised recently by the City Council, including business license charges that had not changed since 1973.

Most of the fees were last raised in 1987, including charges for making photocopies, reviewing tapes, buying reports and paying for research by city staffers. The fees were adjusted according to the annual consumer price indexes over the last four years, said a report by City Clerk Myrna Erway.

Erway said business license fees in San Clemente were far below the fees charged in other cities. Although the consumer price index has tripled since 1973, the largest increase approved by officials doubles the price of some items. Actual price hikes vary from $2 to $100 per item, according to Erway’s report.

The council also approved a $2 increase in green fees for the San Clemente Municipal Golf Course. The increase is expected to generate an additional $140,000 for the golf course.
