U.S. Relations With Cuba

Reader Carl Hagelberg (letter, June 9) questions our lack of progress, compared to Castro’s Cuba, in the areas of homelessness, crime, health care and so on.
A fascist, communist, monarchical or any other one-party or one-individual dictatorship has an advantage over a democracy or a republic in certain internal matters, as individual freedom and rights are either nonexistent or limited.
An extreme example is the right of an individual in a democracy to be or to remain homeless--ask the ACLU!
