Trying to Coordinate Fashion Controversy

Share

Jerry Magnin, president of the Magnin Co., takes Larry Stewart to task (Viewpoint, June 15) for Stewart’s criticizing Fred Roggin’s wearing brown shoes with a gray suit.

Magnin may know merchandising, but he certainly doesn’t know color coordination. Magnin states that the best-dressed men in Milan, London, Paris and L.A. wear brown shoes with gray. Does their wearing the wrong color suit and shoe coordination make it correct? Of course not.

For a gentleman to be smartly dressed, he wears brown shoes with brown, tan or green suits and black shoes with black, blue or gray suits. As the commercial says, “Anything else would be uncivilized.”
