Jim Ellison sings the word pop in the title song with the same faux Anglais accent that pop overthrower Joey Ramone used on “Blitzkrieg Bop” in ’76. But revolutions don’t usually start in the Midwest, and instead of leather jackets, this trio’s power-pop is more like comfortable old Shoes--i.e., the band whose Jeff Murphy co-produced this pleasant debut for his Illinois neighbors.
