Diamond Bar : Sign Ordinance Hearing Set

Share

A public hearing on a proposed city sign ordinance has been scheduled for July 8 at 7 p.m. at the Walnut Valley Unified School District office, 880 S. Lemon Ave., Walnut.

The proposed ordinance would place restrictions on the size and number of commercial business signs in Diamond Bar.

The City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to send a draft of the proposed ordinance back to the Planning Commission to iron out details such as location regulations and precise sign sizes.

Chamber of Commerce officials said they fear a too-restrictive sign ordinance might hurt business, and therefore lower city tax revenues.

The Planning Commission has been studying and drafting an ordinance since early 1990. The ordinance is tentatively scheduled to be presented to the council Aug. 6.
