Share
From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A Stuart, Fla., dentist who infected five patients with AIDS kept his disease and his bisexuality secret for years because he feared repercussions, according to a newsletter for health care workers. The AIDS Alert report also said the late Dr. David Acer kept his disease a secret because he was trying to sell his lucrative practice. The newsletter offered a portrait of Acer based on interviews with social workers and staff members. They said Acer did not begin wearing gloves until he knew he was infected, may not have worn gloves consistently afterward and did not follow sterilization procedures for his dental equipment.
