A Danville man was awaiting extradition to South Dakota after allegedly confessing he had murdered his wife 26 years ago. “In South Dakota, I murdered my wife. I shot her with a pistol,” Fairfield police quoted the suspect as saying to his stepdaughter. Police arrested Dennis D. Blanchfield, 48, on Thursday after listening to the confession from the next room in the Fairfield house of his stepdaughter, whom they said had alerted authorities.
