California Amplifier’s Profits More Than Double

Share

California Amplifier Co., a Camarillo maker of home satellite dishes and other telecommunications products, said its earnings more than doubled during the three months that ended June 1 from the same period a year earlier, despite only a 4% increase in sales.

The company earned $127,000 on sales of $3.68 million for its first quarter, contrasted with earnings of $55,000 on sales of $3.54 million for the same period a year earlier.

Barry W. Hall, chairman and chief executive of the company, said the results reflected increased sales of satellite dishes and systems that transmit television signals over long distances without cables.

Hall said revenues from non-military products last quarter increased 47% over the same quarter a year ago, reflecting the company’s continuing move away from military contracts.
