Carson Mall Broadway Store to Close: Its parent, Carter Hawley Hale Stores, said it will close the store at Carson Mall by September, leaving the West’s largest retailer with 88 Broadway, Broadway Southwest, Emporium and Weinstocks stores. Carter Hawley Hale has filed for protection from its creditors and is reorganizing under Chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy laws. It said it hoped to find jobs in the company for as many of the Carson store’s 117 workers as possible.
