THE ESSENCE OF LA JOLLA

I noticed a glaring error in the first paragraph of Elizabeth Mehren’s article, “Farewell My Lovely Appetizer” (June 2). She describes La Jolla as “this Bougainvillea-scented community.”
If Ms. Mehren tried to find La Jolla by smell, she would be hopelessly lost. Bougainvillea has no scent.
