Bernson Election Wasn’t a Mandate

Share

Why is it that I don’t trust Councilman Hal Bernson’s proposal for commercial downzoning of the Chatsworth-Porter Ranch area (excepting, of course, his mammoth Porter Ranch Specific Plan)?

Is it because Bernson’s disregard for zoning regulations is surpassed only by his disdain for his constituents?

Those without political influence will abide by the new zoning regulations. Those able to contribute thousands to the Bernson campaign coffer should be able to tear down an average 2,000-square-foot house, rezone commercial and erect a 60,000-square-foot office tower on the same property.

Our councilman has elevated disdain for his constituents to an art form, as evidenced by his interpretation of his 50%-to-49% election win as a mandate.

Bernson may be our elected official, but he will never be my representative.
