Auto Plant Reaches Tentative Accord: The union representing 2,800 workers at the New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. plant tentatively agreed to a new contract early Monday, hours after the old one expired. The NUMMI factory in Fremont, Calif., is owned by General Motors and Toyota. Spokesmen for NUMMI and the United Auto Workers both declined to disclose details of the agreement. Union members were scheduled to vote on the tentative agreement today.
