AMC Plan Scuttled: AMC officials in California are backing off a plan to keep children under age 3 out of some screenings, having been advised that the policy would not stand up under the state’s anti-discrimination Unruh Act. The ban of infants and toddlers from films with ratings of PG-13 or R was part of a program designed to help keep theaters quiet. But a threatened challenge by a Buena Park father prompted AMC to seek legal advice. Now, patrons with young children will be “strongly discouraged” from attending those films.
