FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Panel Tells Wish List for Gifted Program

Share

The advisory committee of the Fountain Valley School District’s Gifted and Talented Education program has submitted an annual report that calls for more of everything--from newsletters for parents to teaching materials.

Teachers requested more advanced mathematics materials for their students, as well as writing opportunities, computer programs, research books, educational films and expanded experiences in the visual and performing arts.

Some of their wishes have already been granted through increased training for teachers and the purchase of new materials, the report says. This summer, activities being developed include more hands-on laboratory experiences in science classes and more writing and research in English and history courses.

The report was based on surveys completed by advisory committee members, teachers and parents.
