Santa Monica : Water Use Down 26%
Residents saved more water last month than in the previous two months of mandatory water cutbacks.
Atossa Soltani, the city’s water conservation coordinator, said water use in June was down 26% compared to the same period last year. The savings amount to a reduction of about 4 million gallons a day, or about 120 million gallons for the month.
Since April 1, when a 20% mandatory cutback went into effect, residents have exceeded the requirement. In April, residents cut back 24%, and in May, 22%.
