Countywide : Donors Sought to Keep Blood in Stock

Share

United Blood Services’ bloodmobile will be out this summer to replenish stores of blood in Ventura County.

The organization needs at least 88 gallons a week to supply area hospitals, spokeswoman Carol Tyner said.

Tyner said the need for blood is particularly urgent in the summer because donors go on vacation. She said the bloodmobile will put on extra miles to keep blood stocked.

“If we don’t collect donations from at least 700 people a week, (some) surgical operations will be canceled,” Tyner said.

Among the stops planned for the bloodmobile are Chicago Title Co. in Ventura, July 12, and the Simi Valley Police Department, July 13.

Donating blood takes about 40 minutes. For an appointment to donate, call 654-8104.
