In the article on Oliver Stone’s movie, “JFK” (“Oliver Stone Fights Back,” Calendar, June 24), Time magazine writer Richard Zoglin erroneously calls it the first fictional film with major players to re-create the assassination.

In 1973, the film “Executive Action” starred Burt Lancaster, Robert Ryan and Will Geer as wealthy Texans who wanted J.F.K. dead because they believed he’d be reelected in 1964 and pull U.S. troops out of Vietnam, thus jeopardizing their economic interests.

A TV movie in 1977, “The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald,” starring Lorne Greene, questioned whether sufficient hard evidence existed to nail Oswald as the lone gunman.
