Bungee Jumper Falls Into Lake When Cord Snaps

BRISBANE, Australia —
A tourist trying bungee jumping for the first time at a theme park plummeted into a lake Sunday after the elastic cords around his ankle snapped, police said.
Scott Fitzgerald, 22, of New Zealand, was not seriously injured. Bungee jumpers strap thick elastic cords to their ankles and leap from platforms or bridges. The cords break their fall.
