Man Guilty of Paying Kickbacks: A Huntington Beach man has pleaded guilty to paying $40,000 in kickbacks in order to obtain preferential treatment on government contracts. Marcus E. Berry, 52, was accused of paying the money in 1986 and 1987 to a salesman for Garrett Industrial Supply Co., a Los Angeles supplier of parts for the aerospace industry. Berry was at the time the owner of Ultra Tool International, a Huntington Beach manufacturer of industrial tools and equipment. He faces up to 20 years in jail and $500,000 in fines.
