California IN BRIEF : BAKERSFIELD : Killer of Puppy Gets Prison Term
A Bakersfield man who admitted twisting the head off his girlfriend’s 3-week-old puppy was sentenced to two years in state prison. Eddie Dewayne DeLuna, 25, was charged with decapitating the puppy and trying to flush the carcass down a toilet after his girlfriend said she wanted to break up. Court documents indicated Teresa Romine was bottle feeding the pup when DeLuna began hitting her, grabbed the dog and twisted its head off. Kern County Superior Court Judge Stephen Gildner sentenced DeLuna, who pleaded guilty.
