Campeau Sues Former Company: Robert Campeau, who was ousted as chairman and chief executive of Toronto-based Campeau Corp. last August, filed a suit charging that the troubled retailing and real estate company wrongfully dismissed him. The executive is seeking $100 million (Canadian) in damages, equivalent to about $87 million (U.S.) at current exchange rates. Campeau contends that the company’s conduct in removing him was “highhanded, callous and intentionally damaging to his standing and reputation.” His action came in response to a suit filed by the company in May seeking to recover cars, artwork and $10 million (Canadian) lent to Robert Campeau by the company in 1989.
