FILLMORE : City Raises Garage Sale Permits to $10
Fillmore City Council has doubled the number of garage sales residents may hold each year, but the cost of a permit for the sales will rise from $6 to $10.
The council voted Tuesday to allow four garage sales a year instead of two.
The new regulations, which become effective next month, include a $12 fine for posting yard sale signs on trees or telephone poles and a $30 penalty for holding a sale without a permit.
Fillmore officials said the new fees could bring the city about $8,000 a year in additional revenue.
