A man was sentenced to 100 hours of community service for beating his son’s vice principal over a missed field trip to Disneyland. Simanu Unutoa also was placed on three years probation and fined $500. The community service was to be performed at Oceanside’s Lincoln Junior High School, where Unutoa had the altercation May 13 with acting Vice Principal Fernando Martinez Jr. Unutoa went to the school to discuss disciplinary action taken against his son, an eighth-grader who had been suspended for a week after he wrote graffiti on a restroom wall. The youth also was barred from traveling to Disneyland with the school band.
