MISSION VIEJO : City Atty. Leaving to Take New Post

Share

After nine months on the job, City Atty. Douglas Holland, who helped negotiate a historic development agreement with the Mission Viejo Co., is leaving the city to become county counsel of Monterey County in Northern California.

“I’m very, very sorry to leave this city,” Holland said. “But at the same time, I’m a resident of Ventura County who has put 68,000 miles on his car in 20 months. I just wanted to spend more time with my family.”

The development agreement worked out with the Mission Viejo Co. during Holland’s tenure maps out where and what type of development can take place in the city. The Mission Viejo Co., is the city’s main builder and property holder.

Holland said he would have “liked to work on a few more issues (in Mission Viejo) . . . but on the other hand, I’m pleased that I’ve been able to play a role in a few major issues here. I’ve greatly enjoyed my association with the city and the people I’ve worked with.”
