Still rolling: Steve Smith of Anaheim won his second bowling gold medal and Julie Gardner of Huntington Beach rebounded from a weak performance Saturday to win a silver at the South Bay Bowling Center in Redondo Beach.

Smith, who won the men’s singles Saturday, teamed with Steve Kloempken of Las Vegas for a 12-game men’s doubles total of 5,207, 69 pins ahead of halfway leaders Joe Natoli of Franklin, Wis., and Ron Mohr of Eagle River, Alaska.

Gardner, the defending women’s amateur champion who finished 14th in singles, and Darlene Weekly of Gilbert, Ariz., were just sixth out of eight teams with 2,242 pins after six games. But they rebounded with 2,432 pins in the second block for a 4,674 total, only six pins behind winners Maureen Webb of North Andover, Mass., and Jackie Williams of Candler, N.C.
