From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A Palm Beach, Fla., judge granted a defense request to delay the closed-door hearing on the sexual history of the woman who accused William Kennedy Smith of raping her at the Kennedy family mansion. Palm Beach Circuit Judge Mary Lupo said she still plans on going to trial Aug. 5. Originally, the defense team was to question the woman under oath on Thursday. The hearing has been reset for July 29, at which the defense, the prosecution and the judge will review which, if any, aspects of the woman’s sexual past will be admitted in court. Florida’s rape shield law protects victims of sexual assault from having to reveal aspects of their private life.
