Compaq to Open in Japan: Compaq Computer Corp. announced in Tokyo that it has established a Japanese subsidiary, following other U.S. computer companies that see Japan as an increasingly important market. The company said it would introduce a full range of personal computers next year after establishing a sales network. The computers will be sold with special keyboards and operating systems to handle the Japanese language. Compaq specializes in IBM-compatible personal computers and holds the second-largest share of the European market and the third-largest share in the United States.
