Police were searching Friday for at least three suspects in connection with a cache of stolen cars and automotive parts that were discovered stashed at a self-storage yard.

Police estimated the stolen merchandise, recovered Thursday night at Lambert RV and Self Storage, were worth $25,000, police spokeswoman Cindy Knapp said.

Knapp said that the manager of the storage center discovered the stolen cars when he opened three units, rented by three people who reportedly have not paid rent for three months.

“When the manager opened the first unit and saw its contents, he knew it was time to call in the police,” Knapp said.

Police confiscated a 1991 Mustang convertible, two Kawasaki 440 Jet Skis, a Suzuki GSX 750 motorcycle, a Kawasaki Ninja K-1000 motorcycle and two cars and two Jet Skis that had been disassembled, Knapp said. A 1990 Ford Super Thunder Coupe was later recovered in Whittier in connection with the theft ring.
