Perfume

In response to “Perfumed Air,” by Rachel Skelly, Platform, July 10:

Ms. Skelly would obviously portray a biased viewpoint in regard to perfume, being a “fragrance specialist” for I. Magnin department stores. The point must be made that many people are severely allergic to all perfumes and it is not just a matter of not wanting to inhale the fragrances.

Allergic reactions range from headaches and nausea to a constricting of the airways for people with respiratory conditions. I don’t want to hear about the virtues of “fragances” when I have a headache, feel nauseous and can’t breathe.
