High-Tech HomeClub: HomeClub has gone high-tech.

The chain of home-improvement stores is using a satellite to link the video and data communications of its 70 store locations and its Fullerton headquarters. Previously, the communications lines were land-based. As a result, HomeClub Inc. President Jim Halpin predicts that the chain will be able to better respond to customers while making itself more efficient.

The conversion is expected to result in substantial savings over the next five years, according to Halpin.
