Huntington Park : 87-Cent Increase for Home Trash Service Gets Final OK
The City Council has given final approval to a 9% rate increase for residential garbage service.
Residents will be charged $8.62 per month, an 87-cent increase, for trash service provided by Western Waste Industries. The city, which bills residents for Western Waste, will receive 17 cents from each bill to defray its costs. The increase, which is retroactive to July 1, will appear on residents’ September bills.
Earlier this month, the council approved a 6% rate increase for commercial and industrial trash service retroactive to July 1. H.P. Disposal Co., the city’s commercial and industrial trash hauler, plans to begin billing for the increase in August, said John Marderosian, general manager of H.P. Disposal.
